Hey! You need to come up to the Center for Maine Craft in West Gardiner. I am back in Maine now and am working there. It might be a good outlet for you work or at least a good way for you to network so send me a message or whatever you want to do and come up on a day that I am working so we can chat a little more.
Thanks,
Casey

Hi Ally! I'm Catie's mom. I saw your parents this past Friday night and your brother Tommy. Your dad was telling me about your artwork - nice work! Portland is a pretty cool place to live. Catie is out in Colorado (Fort Collins), and her sis Maggie is in Denver. I went out this summer and had a great time visiting them. Your parents are very lucky to have you close (and vice versa, I suppose!) Your dad was telling me that he and your mom get to Portland about once a month. Sounds like fun for all of you. Well, I wanted to check out your work. Keep up the great art work!

Just watched the video. I love this wacky commercial. I've somehow managed to mention it a couple of times in workshops I've given.

I just found you through technorati! Thanks for your mention of my blog. I'm glad you like it. There's noit much happening around here pottery-wise, unfortunately, but soon!

It's interesting to me how our information comes to us as contemporary potters. When I was a young potter I had to wait for Studio Potter magazine to come out just twice every year and I met potters here and there in travels, but now as you said, you can see how potters work and feel about their work through the blog-o-sphere!

Be well.

you should totally just get the subscription.. mine was 20 bucks (6 issues) and it comes with membership in the ACC, so you can get in free to all those shows and shit in new york and it's just a great deal (i think)

also, check out Molly Hatch's website (just google her). I didn't like her in critique but I think you'd like at least some of her ideas about presentation. She just finished a masters at Colorado Boulder.

Yo!
After coming from MECA and from the friendliness of Portland I will give you a heads up on never walking alone at night in Kansas City, but go talk to Adrienne Herman because she used to teach here and I ignored her warnings and came anyway. I graduated in May and I have to say that Cary Esser is wonderful to work with. I feel that pottery is under appreciated at the art institute but I think that you would get along fine. Living out here is cheap though and there is plenty to learn from the staff. The spaces are small, there is less of a community feel, but the work ethic is (for the most part) exceptional and you'll have access to a hell of a lot more resources. We have two big museums on either side of campus, a new sandblaster, a new teaching collection...blah blah blah. Let me know if you end up coming on out here. I'll do my best to help you out. Take care and feel free to ask me anything you want to know!
